Job Description
Weyerhaeuser Company is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor for our Grayling, MI Panels facility. We are seeking an experienced individual to provide leadership for reliability and maintenance process improvements.
The Maintenance Supervisor plans and leads the daily activities of a team of multi-craft maintenance in the areas of safety, quality and reliability focused maintenance practices. The Maintenance Supervisor will also be responsible for leading team meetings & trainings, identifying safety, environmental, quality & production issues, coordinating activities with production teams to maximize productivity and minimize cost, reduce waste while proactively addressing reliability concerns. Additionally, the Maintenance Supervisor leads the team by proactively resolving employee issues, builds teamwork, and ensures adherence to all applicable site policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner.
Key Functions
- The supervisor will plan, develop, manage and provide effective leadership for the maintenance team through:
- Working with the team to proactively identify safety issues then taking measures to address concerns.
- Actively supervising and developing the maintenance team associates to ensure effective communication across & between shifts and with the production teams.
- Utilizing predictive and preventive maintenance systems to reduce unscheduled downtime
- Efficient use of reliable troubleshooting methods to ensure uptime, production volume and quality goals are met
- Implementing effective training processes to build team capacity by enhancing and building the team's technical skills.
- Utilization of computer-based programs to support effective prioritization of maintenance requests, manage maintenance inventory, and delegate maintenance resources.
- Analyzing data to ensure proper down day tasks
- Administrative and reporting activities
- Supporting the improvement of key performance indicators, continuous improvement of maintenance functions, and for department budget cost effectiveness
- Developing and training associates including coaching, mentoring, and performance management to support a high performance, self-directed work system
- Participating in and/or leading initiatives for capital projects and problem-solving activities as assigned
- Assuring purchasing functions follow established policies and procedures
- Facilitating team meetings & trainings
- Encouraging innovation
- Leading the team by proactively resolving employee issues, building teamwork, and ensuring adherence to all applicable site policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner
- Staffing, recruiting and retaining talent
- Other duties as assigned
- High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution
- Minimum of three (3) years maintenance leadership experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Strong business leadership skills with the ability to understand and support the site's vision, strategy, goals and targets
- Experience in preventive and predictive maintenance methods
- Strong work ethic, good judgment and decision-making skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge of manufacturing equipment and processes
- Ability to perform a root cause analysis and effectively initiate corrective/preventative actions
- Demonstrated basic computer skills and proficiency in MS Office and other Windows based programs and internet skills
- Demonstrated results in achieving and sustaining business goals
- Excellent team building, problem solving, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work in and lead diverse teams
- Track record of consistently demonstrating collaborative and inclusive leadership skills as well as positive influence, with accomplishments in proactively influencing safety, quality, productivity and people development.
- Ability to provide innovative solutions to continuously improve maintenance processes and eliminate unscheduled downtime
- Ability to plan, lead and executive day-to-day maintenance activities
- Must be willing to work weekends and holidays as conditions require
- Ability to learn and use software associated with maintenance tracking systems
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures and at heights when conditions warrant
- Strong planning and organizational skills
The following qualifications are preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical Engineering highly preferred
- Experience in electrical and PLC programming and/or troubleshooting
- Vocational Technical training certificate
- Knowledgeable Wood Products manufacturing
- Experience with LEAN processes
- Experience with SAP or other computerized maintenance tracking software

Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $81,300 to $122,000 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 7% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 holiday hours.
